The window and door system comprises a range of multi-chambered profiles that are designed to meet the requirements of the new build, commercial and domestic refurbishment markets. The main profiles are three-chamber construction with a depth of 70mm. They allow for combinations of most windows and doors to be manufactured in customised styles to the following window types / styles:

Glazing Thicknesses: |
|
| Glazing thicknesses from 4mm up to 42mm can be incorporated (double or triple glazing) with either internal or externally fitted glazing beads. 28mm is the more common option. Single glazing can be incorporated as an internally beaded option. | |
Reinforcement: |
|
| Galvanised steel reinforcement sections are available for all main profiles to meet most specification requirements. Irrespective of the size of the element, all main profiles must be reinforced with galvanised steel, 2mm wall thickness. The steel must be fixed to the profile at approximately 250mm intervals, beginning 50mm from the end of the reinforcement. | |
Thermal Insulation: |

| The thermal insulation of a window / door depends upon the glazing as well as the frame material and the size of the element. The following performance is achieved with Rehau S706 profiles. | |
Sound Insulation: |
|
| The sound insulation is largely dependant on the type of glazing unit used, in particular the variation of glass thickness and air space dimensions.

| Window and door profiles are manufactured from weather-resistant impact modified RAU-PVC 1406, a material that has proven itself in 25 years of window production and that has all of the physical characteristics laid down by DIN 7748 PVC U-D-E-080-25-28 and BS7413. | |

| The sealed units fitted by Window and Door Maintenance Services Ltd are of high quality. The make up of the unit consists of 6.4mm laminated glass thickness x 17.5mm spacer bar x 4mm toughened planitherm sealed units. . Coloured Laminate PVC-U: |

| We have a range of standard laminate options. For most systems they are mahogany, golden oak and rosewood on white and mahogany, rosewood and golden oak both sides. | |
| A further range of 7 woodgrain and 10 colour non-standard laminate options are available to special order. Laminate can be applied to the inside or outside or both sides of white base profile and to both sides of brown and acorn base profiles. The finish is colourfast, weather resistant and durable. Due to the complexity of the process, lamination is best suited to large volume installations in the same colour. | |
RAL: |

| The Acryl II colour coating system is the result of a development by Rehau's automotive division, which has used a similar system for many years to produce colour matched polymer car bumpers. | |
| It is a two component acrylic coating system, which involves tightly controlled preparation, application of the cross-linking polyurethane acrylic by wet spraying and then air curing. The finish is durable, colour fast and weather resistant. Acryl II coating does not affect the impact resistance of the PVC-U profile | |
| There is a choice of over 150 RAL colours and the system allows for optimum versatility and creative use of colour. For example, the frame and the sash or the inside and the outside can be finished in two different colours. Alternatively, sills or beading can be finished to contrast with the frame. Due to the flexibility of the system it is suitable for both small and large-scale installations. | |

Fittings / Fixings: |
|
| All modern standard fittings including shootbolts, hook locks and 'Dog' bolts can be used and are available from Window and Door Maintenance Services Ltd. | |
| Standard fittings may be used such as friction stays, espagnolettes and shootbolts. The profiles have been designed so that generally load-bearing fittings are secured by screwing through two profile walls and additional legs inside the sash / frame rebate hollow providing increased pull-out strength for screws. At transoms/mullions screws must reach the reinforcement. If self tapping screws are used, these should be counter-sunk cross-headed screws to DIN 7982. With self tapping screws it is essential to check that a precisely shaped thread cutting bit is employed. Blunt drill bits are not permissible and reduce the anchor strength substantially. When using electric or pneumatic screwdrivers, the clutch needs careful adjustment to prevent stripping out the tread of the screw. The speed must not exceed 600-1000 revolutions per minute as this may cause partial heating up of the PVC material and reduce the anchorage strength of the screws. Sealants: |

| Window and Door Maintenance Services Ltd use high quality Ceresit Silicone on installations of upvc windows and doors. Ceresit Silicone has good adhesion properties on most substrates including plastic and porous surfaces. The product is quick curing, flexible and weather-proof. Ceresit Silicone comes in a range of colours to suit which window colour has been chosen so as all is uniform. | |
Mechanics: |

| Rehau pvc-u is classified as high impact resistant when tested in accordance with DIN 7748. It maintains its excellent impact resistance between -40 degrees C and +40 degrees C. | |
Heat: |
|
| Between +40 degrees C and +60 degrees C, there is a slight reduction in rigidity. | |
Fire: |
|
| Rehau pvc-u is difficult to ignite and will self extinguish when the source of heat is removed. | |
Chemical: |
|
| Rehau pvc-u is resistant to atmospheric pollution and a range of acids and alkalis. | |
Durability: |
|
| Rehau pvc-u's special formulation for external use gives excellent resistance to weathering and ageing. Many installations on the continent have been in use for over 25 years without deterioration. | |
Accreditation and Approvals: |
|
| The main UK systems have been tested in accordance with and meet the highest requirements of BS 7412 and are kitemarked to BS EN12608 (Licence No. 13358), which incorporates BS EN ISO 9001. They have also been approved by the BBA.The S706 70mm and REHAU-Tritec 60mm systems have been type tested to BS7950 and PAS23/24 security standards and are also approved by the London Housing Consortium and by Birmingham City Laboratories. | |
Maintenance: |
|
| No maintenance of Rehau pvc-u windows / doors is required beyond an occasional wipe with a damp cloth to maintain appearance and lubrication of moving parts as necessary. | |
Cleaning: |
|
| The window / door can be cleaned using normal washing-up liquids and luke warm water. Gritty and abrasive cleaning agents must not be used. In the event of bad soiling, the use of a special cleaning agent is recommended (available from Window and Door Maintenance Services Ltd) which must be applied to the whole of the frame surface. | |
